1Who we are
SnapBook is published by JEWEALITY and developed by Mahesh Varma ("we", "us"). This policy describes how the SnapBook app for Android ("the app") handles information. It does not cover other websites or apps you open from SnapBook, such as the Play Store or your email app.
2Information the app handles
Everything you create (books, photos, notes, captions, PDFs and settings) stays on your phone. We do not run a server that receives it.
Content you create
- Photos you take with the camera or import with the system photo picker are copied into the app's private storage, compressed and stored there.
- Notes, titles, captions, dates, colours and the order of your pages are stored in a local database on your device.
- PDFs you export are created on your device. They are only shared when you choose to share or save them.
- Settings (theme, author name for PDFs, default export options, slideshow speed and the last page you read) are stored locally on your device.
| Information | Leaves your device? | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Photos, notes, captions, PDFs | No | To build and show your books. |
| Author name, theme and other settings | No | To remember your preferences. The author name is printed on PDFs you create. |
| Camera image (live preview) | No | To take photos of your notes. |
| Device and ad identifiers, approximate location (from IP), ad interactions | Sent to Google | Only to serve and measure ads. See Advertising. |
| Backup file you create | Only where you save it | A zip you choose to save. We never receive it. |
What we do not collect
- No name, email address, phone number or account details (the app has no accounts).
- No precise location, contacts, microphone recordings, messages or browsing history.
- No access to your whole photo library: gallery import uses the Android photo picker, so the app only sees photos you select.
3Permissions
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Requested only when you open the in-app camera, to photograph your notes. You can refuse it and still import photos from the gallery, or withdraw it any time in Android settings. |
| Internet and network state | Used only by the advertising and consent components to load ads and consent forms. Your notes are never uploaded. |
| Advertising ID | Declared by the Google Mobile Ads SDK so ads can be personalised or measured where you allow it. You can reset or delete it in Android settings. |
The app does not request storage permission. Saved PDFs and backups go to a location you pick with the Android file picker.
4Advertising and consent
SnapBook is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. Banner ads appear at the bottom of the home and book screens, and an interstitial ad may appear after you finish a task such as exporting a PDF. Ads are never shown while you are reading a book, using the camera or writing a note.
To show ads, Google may collect and use device information such as your advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and how you interact with ads. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Where required (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland) the app shows a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform before requesting ads. You can review or change your choice later in Settings → Ad privacy choices when it is available for your region.
You can also limit ad personalisation on your device in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, and opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
6Storage, backup and deletion
- Where: in the app's private storage on your device, which other apps cannot read on an unmodified Android device.
- Backup and restore: Settings lets you export everything to a zip file that you save yourself, and restore from it later. We do not keep a copy. Keep such files somewhere safe because they contain your notes.
- Deleting data: deleting a page or book removes its files from the device. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, removes all remaining app data.
- Lost device: because data is only on your device, we cannot recover it for you. Use backups.
7Security
Keeping your content on your device and off our servers is the main protection we offer. The app uses Android's app sandbox, does not need an account, and communicates over the network only for ads and consent. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so we recommend using your device's screen lock and keeping your phone updated.
8Children's privacy
SnapBook is a general-purpose study tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app has no accounts, any information a child adds stays on their own device. If you believe a child has been shown inappropriate ads, please contact us.
9Your choices and rights
- Access and delete: you can see, edit, export or delete all of your content inside the app at any time.
- Camera: allow or revoke in Android settings.
- Ads: change consent in the app, reset your advertising ID or turn off personalisation in Android settings.
- Local privacy laws: depending on where you live (for example GDPR in the EEA/UK, or CCPA/CPRA in California) you may have the right to ask about, correct or delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you; for data held by Google, use Google's privacy controls.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant we will highlight it in the app or on this page. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
